The wife of a Chinese Canadian man imprisoned in China hopes an overseas trip by Foreign Affairs Minister Peter MacKay will help bring her husband home.

Huseyin Celil, a father of six, is accused of being a terrorist. He was arrested in Uzbekistan in March and extradited to China in June.

Mr. MacKay told CTV News over the weekend he plans to visit China in an effort to ease tensions between Beijing and Ottawa, but he did not set a specific time for the trip.
